I love when we learned how they reuse props even if they are from a different time and place in the Outlander world. I’d love to see how Jamie and Claire repurpose things because you know back then it was a must.
“We had a video of that actual operation, which Caitríona watched. Three pieces were made. One so you can see the tendons through the hand, one with bent fingers and stitching mended, and then another piece for the open palm operation that Caitríona performed… A silicone piece is made from a mold of [Mark’s] hand. Clay is sculpted on the hand of the open operation and then molds are taken.” –Makeup and Hair Designer Annie McEwan
“For the blood effect, a small tube was affixed to the camera’s blind side of the knife, which had a silicone hose attached to it that ran up the artist’s sleeve to a small reservoir of blood. This was powered via a small radio-controlled pump, allowing SFX crew to operate remotely and deliver blood on action to make it appear as if Fergus is cutting his arm.” –Head SFX Technician Steve Paton
Culloden cannons used in Season 2 were adapted and changed to blacksmith carts and tree felling carts for Season 6–nothing is parted with on this show!
