When Claire is helping Susannah birth her babies, one baby appears to be stillborn. Claire holds the baby until it cries. She tells Jamie she saw a blue light seep out of her and go into the baby until she came back. Is healing an ability of a time traveler or only those who have healing knowledge?
When Brianna is locked inside the dam's tunnels, she encounters what appears to be a time portal. She is forced to run through it but doesn't travel out of her current time. A new detail about the time travel rules is gemstones appear to be warm to the touch to a traveler while non-travelers do not feel the warmth. Brianna is the daughter of Claire a time traveler and can travel. Roger is the descendant of Geillis Duncan who is a time traveler and can travel. Jemmy is able to hear the gem stones. Gem stones which are typically warm to travelers appear hot to him suggesting is ability is stronger. This makes it likely he is the product of two travelers: Brianna and Roger. Claire has mentioned in the past the buzzing being louder or less at different times of the year: in particular, the four seasonal solstices, and the four Gaelic festivals meant to celebrate them. She traveled on Beltane and Samhain. I believe Roger and Bree traveled at Beltane. We only know of our time travelers traveling on the cross-quarter days though it is possible they have traveled on quarter days.
We are privy to a glimpse of the past where the indigenous people are dancing around a set of standing stones. Many cultures did this in different locations to open the passageway in the stones. Brianna gives Claire a topaz necklace for the passage through the stones. Claire comments that she had on a jeweled watch when she went through the first time and Jamie’s father’s ring when she went through the second time. Roger believes this means they protect you. Roger confirms a 202 year time jump for Claire. She disappeared into the past for 3 years and when she returned the same amount of time passed. Which means if 20 years have passed for Claire in the future then 20 years will have passed for Jamie in the past. They should be looking for him in 1766. Source: Of Lost Things
Brianna tells Claire after Geillis goes through the stones that she heard them. Both Claire and Brianna hear the stones. Roger also appears to have heard the stones. This seems to be an indication you have the ability to travel. Initially, when Claire went through the stones there was a strange buzzing sound. Claire left Jamie in 1746 and returned to Frank in 1947. That is a 202 year difference. She traveled with Jamie’s father’s ring and it was missing the stone when she got to 1948. Geillis/Gillian goes through the stones in 1968 and clearly travels back more than 203 years because she’s there before Claire. We don’t know if she got there 1 or 5 years before but if she got there 5 minutes before then she went back 225 years. Clearly she was there enough time to establish herself and seduce Arthur Duncan into marriage so I’d guess 230 years. Source: Through A Glass, Darkly
Claire goes in search for Geillis and finds her in the woods doing a druid/pagan ritual. Claire notices the similarities to the dancers at the stones. Claire watches on as Geillis dances noticing Geillis is pregnant. When Geillis finish’s her ritual she calls for Claire to come out. Claire confronts Geillis about the pregnancy. Geillis tells Claire not even Arthur knows and when Claire asks how that is possible Geillis tells her Arthur hasn’t seen her out of her cloths. Geillis confesses that Dougal is her love and the child is his. Geillis tells Claire her ritual or summoning is to ask for Dougal and her freedom from their respective marriages.
