“Trisha Biggar does an incredible job and I, for one, am incredibly grateful to her, especially this season. The costumes we have for Claire at the Ridge when she’s more relaxed… it’s a slightly modern twist on what women were wearing at the time, which I always feel is so important… that Claire would always find a way of retaining some of that comfort, some of that ease, some of the practicality from the future while also being able to kind of blend in.
But when they go to these big sort of events or balls, you know, girl likes a bit of glamour in her life too, like anyone. Trisha made the most stunning gown for me. It’s this beautiful sort of blue silk with navy velvet. It’s really gorgeous. They’re amazing, how they make everything like this from scratch. And the dressing gown is fabulous… she just came up with the really beautiful pieces. I had a new green coat that I really, really wanted for real life.
Trisha and her team worked round the clock to accommodate my ever changing figure. Obviously, the costumes we wear are so heavy and at a certain point you can’t really wear them anymore in certain ways. So we came up with things like skirts not tying on the waist anymore but putting them on sort of harnesses so that the weight is distributed and making waist coats that have lovely lacing in the back, so they can expand literally from day to day. They were incredible.” -Caitríona Balfe
