Starz CEO Chris Albrecht’s Departure and what that means for Outlander

Honestly, I had no idea what this could mean with the story broke that Starz CEO Chris Albrecht would be stepping down. Albrecht is the reason for the programming currently on Starz and one of the first decisions he made was to get into business with Ronald D. Moore and that is how Outlander was born on Starz.

Lionsgate acquired Starz back in 2016. Lionsgate was after a platform for their content which includes The Hunger Game Series, The Twilight Saga, and Orange Is the New Black. From the gist of Outlander Cast’s article it seems the decision to oust Albrecht is really about having control over programming. And it seems Lionsgate isn’t keen on things they don’t own and as we know Sony owns Outlander.

Does this mean we could lose Outlander? Blake over at Outlander Cast is sure we’ll get Season 5 since production has started and we might even get Season 6 because it was promised but they might not be interested in giving us additional Outlander if it isn’t a show Lionsgate owns.

This is just a very condensed version of the Outlander Cast article and I highly recommend you go over and read it or listen to their podcast episode about this fiasco.
