William Buccleigh “Buck” MacKenzie

While aboard the Glorianna, Roger encounters Morag MacKenzie and realizes she’s his four-times-great grandmother and her son his three-times-great grandfather. He protects them from the Captain: Stephen Bonnet. While coming back from warning Murtagh about Governor Tryon’s intentions during the Battle of Alamance, Roger comes across Morag MacKenzie. He tries to warn her but is confronted by her husband (Roger’s 4x great grandfather) Buck MacKenzie who is also the son of Geillis Duncan and Dougal MacKenzie. Buck beats and ties up Roger, leaving him to be thought a Regulator.

Battle of Alamance

Despite Jamie’s best efforts to forestall a battle, Tryon gets his skirmish and Brianna realizes it is the Battle of Alamance which many believe sparked the American Revolution. The Battle of Alamance took place on May 16, 1771 and was the final battle of the Regulator Movement. It is considered to be the opening battle of the American Revolution. Knox and the Regulators

Jamie’s been walking a tight rope trying to find the right balance of loyalty to the crown and what he knows about history. Murtagh wanting to fight doesn’t help but Jamie goes along trying to influence and assist when he can. However, Knox’s inquiry into Ardsmuir forces Jamie’s hand. After Jamie is discovered to be a Rebel by Knox, Jamie strangles him to protect Murtagh and the others. Jamie hides the evidence by burning the Ardsmuir prison roll and starting a fire which destroys all the evidence as to his actions. Source: Perpetual Adoration

When to Travel

Claire has mentioned in the past the buzzing being louder or less at different times of the year: in particular, the four seasonal solstices, and the four Gaelic festivals meant to celebrate them. She traveled on Beltane and Samhain. I believe Roger and Bree traveled at Beltane. We only know of our time travelers traveling on the cross-quarter days though it is possible they have traveled on quarter days.

Claire Finds the Skull of a Ghost

Claire finds the a skull and a gem stone under a tree and encounters what she believes is the ghost of the person who died and possibly owned the gem. Claire cleans up the skull and discovers silver fillings which is not something that will be invented for another 100 years. Whoever her ghost was he was also a traveler. Source: The False Bride

Dancing Around Stones

We are privy to a glimpse of the past where the indigenous people are dancing around a set of standing stones. Many cultures did this in different locations to open the passageway in the stones. Abandawe

Jamie and Claire discover another set of standing stones on Jamaica called Abandawe which is part of the reading Margaret Campbell gave Claire in Edinburgh. While the standing stones are on top of the hill, Geillis Duncan finds a pool of water in the cave underneath the standings stones. This pool acts as a doorway through time.

Geillis’ Death

After encountering Geillis and realizing she is the one who kidnapped Young Ian, Claire and Jamie set out to stop Geillis from traveling to the future through the stones in  the cave locals call Abandawe. Jamie realizes one of his pictures of Brianna is missing and Claire believes Geillis is going after Brianna because of the Brahan Seer’s Prophecy. Before Geillis can go back in time by using Young Ian as a human sacrifice, Claire kills her with an axe to prevent her from going after Brianna. Brahan Seer’s Prophecy

Young Ian’s Abduction

Needing funds to pay Laoghaire her alimony, Jamie decides to take stones from the Selkie Island treasure (The Frenchman’s Gold). He can’t swim out there with an injured arm (Laoghaire shot him) so Young Ian is recruited. At the shore, Jamie and Claire watch as Young Ian swims out to the island and then watch as a ship approaches and men capture Young Ian and take him aboard. The two look on helplessly as Young Ian is kidnapped. Obviously someone knows about the treasure and they took Young Ian. Who is after the Frenchman’s Gold? Source: First Wife

Claire comments that she had on a jeweled watch when she went through the first time and Jamie’s father’s ring when she went through the second time. Roger believes this means they protect you. Margaret Campbell’s Fortune

When Claire goes to visit Margaret Campbell, Margaret has a “vision” and tells Claire: “Gleep, gleep. Gleep, gleep. D’ye hear ’em? D’ye hear the tree toads lullaby? And the moon — the moon be chokin’ wi’ blood. Ye must be careful, Abandawe will devour ye. Abandawe, Abandawe. Abandawe…” This ends up referring to the standing stones in Jamaica. Margaret is warning Claire about the passage through the stones. One can assume the “chokin’ wi’ blood” could refer to Geillis’s death. Source: Crème De Menthe

Them Bones

Joe Abernathy is looking over some bones for a friend and gets Claire involved in the “investigation.” Claire touches the bones and says they are a “150 year murder victim.” Joe tells her she’s about 50 years off meaning the bones are 200 years old. These bones were of a white woman found in a cave in Jamaica. This is a lot of information about bones for them not to mean something. Source: Freedom & Whisky

Paul Revere’s Ride

On April 18, 1775, Paul Revere was instructed by the Sons of Liberty to ride to Lexington, Massachusetts, to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock about the British troops movements. He accomplished this mission. It was on the way to Concord to warn patriots there; he and his compatriots, were stopped at by the very British soldiers they were warning Adams and Hancock about. Revere was captured and questioned. The British brought him back to Lexington but left him alone when they heard the gunshots from the Battle of Lexington Green. Revere found John Hancock and his family and helped them escape Lexington with a trunk full of incriminating papers.

The Frenchman’s Gold

The English have discovered Duncan Kerr who is babbling about curse gold and white witches. Jamie translates for Major Grey but doesn’t give him all the information. Grey believes it could be the Frenchman’s Gold which was promised to Charles Stuart. Jamie then disappears from a work crew and when found tells John all he found was a jewel but John doesn’t believe him until Jamie gives him the jewel.  Source: All Debts Paid

The Buzzing of the Stones

Brianna tells Claire after Geillis goes through the stones that she heard them. Both Claire and Brianna hear the stones. Roger also appears to have heard the stones. This seems to be an indication you have the ability to travel. Initially, when Claire went through the stones there was a strange buzzing sound. Battle of Culloden

Jamie and Claire set out to stop the Battle of Culloden by sabotaging Bonnie Prince Charlie. On the eve of the battle, Claire and Jamie even discuss killing Charles Stuart and are overheard by Dougal who attacks and dies by Jamie’s hand. Jamie knows he can’t stop the battle but he can save Claire by sending her back to Frank. Claire wondered if they could change history. They didn’t manage. Is it impossible? Roger’s Ancestor

Claire tells Roger he is related to Geillis Duncan who she met after traveling back to 1743. Geillis was to be burned as a witch after she gave birth to the child she carried. Claire knew the child was Dougal’s and tells Roger his genealogical chart is wrong when it gets back to that point in history and that he is the descendant of Geillis Duncan and Dougal MacKenzie. Frank’s Ancestry

Claire believed Jack Randall was Frank’s direct ancestor (that is what Frank believed) but after the dual with Jamie was left unable to father children. This caused Claire to believe they could change history and Frank wouldn’t be born. In Edinburgh, Claire discovered Alex Randall and Mary together. Mary confesses to being pregnant with Alex’s child.
