Star Chamber

The Comte St. Germain becomes an enemy to Claire when she announces his ship has smallpox aboard. She wants to help the crew but the Port Officials have his ship burned.

Claire goes to Mother Hildegarde to seek audience with the King hoping to free Jamie after his illegal duel. The King takes her to the Star Chamber where he informs her both St. Germain and Raymond are being tried for sorcery.

Claire puts some bitter cascara into some wine and gives it to Raymond who doubles over and then steadies himself. When he hands back the cup, Claire’s necklace changes from white to black and the Comte knows it is poison. Raymond has used sleight of hand to really poison the wine. The Comte stalls but is commanding by the King to drink. When he does, he falls over dead much to the satisfaction of the King and Raymond. Raymond is sent from France while Claire is taken to the bedchamber for Louis payment.

Who exactly is Master Raymond?

Percy Beauchamp seeks out Fergus Fraser in Savannah to inform him that he is the son of the Comte St. Germain.
