Hey, it’s Jill; the webmistress of Outlander Watch. Horrifyingly Outlander Watch somehow was deleted by a big mistake on my part. Long story short, I did something that cloned my other site over OW and when I went to restore the back up I was told it hadn’t been backed up (automatically) in over a year and that one was deleted. Full-proof system it seems. Yes, years of work lost. 2023 is turning out to be fantastic.
I haven’t been around a lot because there has been too much going on. Every time I turn around there is yet another thing vying for my attention.
First, car trouble. My car is slowly dying and with the torrential downpour California is getting; flooding. Every time it rains heavily (which is like every other day) the floor in my passenger side front is wet. Part of me wants to find a solution to this but I’m not willing to spend money on a car that is slowly dying. The engine and transmission need replaced. Then the catalytic converter is dead and the whole AC system died. Thankfully, my mechanic said, “do not fix this,” instead of slowly taking all my money (or lack thereof).
Oh, I have a broken foot. Yep. This actually started last year and I’m a couple weeks out from getting this offending air boot off my foot but it has been an annoyingly frustrating way to start of a year.
My aunt ended up in the hospital with a massive staph infection. She’d had surgery prior to that and went home only to end up with the site infected. By the time someone got her to the hospital (she lives a state away) she needed to be sedated and put on a vent to take all the stress off her organs. It was really scary because her kidneys started to shut down but then the intravenous antibiotics finally started doing their job and she turned a corner really fast. She’s now out of the hospital but very weak.
My best friends father ended up in the hospital with pneumonia and then the doctors discovered he had to have heart surgeries to unblock a lot of arteries. Thank God he got sick because I’m not sure anyone would have known before something worse would have happened. He’s doing really well but had some kidney issues because of it. He is like a father to me. I have known this man nearly my entire life and he’s treated me like a daughter. It has been so upsetting though I know all his actual daughters have been reeling. But you know, you rush to your BFs side when these things happen.
And now I have to rebuild OW. I hate complaining but what is wrong with 2023 already? I keep hoping the worst is happening right now because the year is going to end up being really awesome. Just so you know, I’m mentally rolling my eyes.
