Ellen and Brian attend Beltane. Henry struggles to hold onto his hope. Julia loses allies when secrets come out.

Needfire traps Julia in Castle Leathers and brings us to Beltane. Despite his promise, Brian isn’t willing to help Julia leave. While he’s willing to take a beating for her there is no telling what Simon will do if Brian let’s Julia absconded with “his” baby.
Brian Learns About Julia’s Pregnancy
As Brian helps Julia, Davina drops the news that Julia’s baby is Simon’s and therefore Brian’s sibling. Brian can’t help now because he’ll be in a world of trouble should he take Simon’s baby from him. Julia’s own lie is causing her problems.
So Julia is stuck, unable to get to Beltane, and the possibility of getting home. Simon summons his seer—who Claire meets in The Fox’s Lair. Maisri the Seer either doesn’t know the child isn’t Simon’s or she knows something we don’t because she focuses on it being a boy. When Julia cracks the egg there are two yolks. Maisri sees the first as a girl fitting Claire’s description while the second is a boy. He will be powerful and will end up being king. Simon believes that the Fraser king prophecy is true. And we’ve heard about this prophecy in Outlander. Geillis is working off this prophecy. She connects it to Jamie and then Brianna. Maybe Maisri is connecting the prophecy to Claire or maybe Julia’s baby isn’t leaving this time.
Davina tries to intervene, pointing out that Julia was pregnant before she got there but Simon believes Julia and threatens Davina if she keeps up with her claims.
Ellen’s Reputation
At the Beltane festival, Henry let’s Ned in on the rumors about Ellen’s reputation which Simon Fraser is claiming to Isaac Grant. He’s going to have to look into this.
Meanwhile, Ellen’s reputation being ruined would be a thing if anyone found out about her and Brian getting handfasted and then sleeping together.
Later, Henry sees the maidens dancing around the standing stones. This is a great callback to Claire seeing them in Sassenach. We aren’t privy to whether or not Henry thinks this has something to do with how the stones work.
Ned opens up to Henry about losing the love of his life in Edinburgh. Henry reiterates that this is why he needs to find Julia.
Ellen and Brian
At Beltane, Ellen is made the May Queen and must pick a King. She looks around the men clearly wanting to pick Brian—while Murtagh wants to be picked—but Ellen does the sensible thing and picks Malcolm to hide what is really happening.
Murtagh goes of to get drunk and sulk. Ellen and Brian arrange to meet but Murtagh follows them and realizes what is happening. After being beaten by Arch Bug, Jocasta approaches Murtagh who decides she’s a good second choice—which is why Jocasta is so pissed off when they meet again and rightly so!
Brian and Ellen run off to old ruins where they handfast and consummate their relationship which is going to cause issues seeing as Simon Fraser is spreading rumors.
